Frequently Asked Questions

Who do I contact if I have any questions about the event?

Our Registration Team will be delighted to assist you with any questions you may have. Email:dhlscc@rlcuk.com. Please note the Registration Team’s time zone: GMT/UTC 0. From March 29, 2026 it will be GMT/UTC +1

Dress Code

To ensure you are comfortable and dressed for the weather throughout the event, please take note of the recommended dress code that we have provided for you.

The weather in May is hot, with temperatures ranging from 26–29°C (79–84°F). With little rainfall.

The dress code during the day is casual. Please bring a pair of comfortable sport shoes for walking and/or outdoor activities. We also recommend that you bring sun protection and a hat.

The dress code for Tuesday & Wednesday evenings is casual, a jumper or jacket maybe required as it becomes cooler.

You will be given one SCC polo shirt on arrival to be worn for the Business Meeting on Thursday 14 May.

For the Gala Event on Thursday evening, elegant evening wear is suggested; ‘dress to impress’!

Can I bring my partner, family members with me?

Please note this invitation is exclusively for you. Partners, family members and friends cannot take part in the event or stay at the hotel during the event’s duration. You can of course make your own arrangements to spend time in Beijing outside of the event dates.

If you wish to extend your stay for personal reasons, you will need to cover the cost of each additional night. The single room rate with buffet breakfast is CNY 1,650 per night, the double occupancy rate is CNY 1,850. This rate is only available for two nights either side of the event dates and dependent on the hotels availability.

Taxis at Airport - own arrival

If you are arriving  in Beijing before the event we are unable to offer you an airport transfer. You will need to make your own way into the city.

Taxis are readily available at Beijing Capital (PEK) with official taxi stands outside arrivals, but using ride-hailing apps like DiDi (China’s Uber) is highly recommended for convenience and English support, often via Alipay or WeChat Pay, with fares to the city typically costing ¥200-¥300 ($30-$45 USD) depending on traffic, though budget options like the Airport Express train are faster.

What is the time zone?

Beijing is in the China Standard time zone (GMT + 8hrs)

What are the plug types?

In Beijing the type I plug, with three flat pins is the modern standard.

If the plug shape in Beijing is different to your home country you might need to get a travel adapter. It’s always worth doing a little bit of research before your trip, or you could find yourself unable to charge your phone.

China uses 220V at 50HZ voltage.

What is the currency?

The official currency is the Yuan (CNY), also called the Renminbi (RMB), and it is the only one accepted for most everyday transactions. Bring some smaller denomination Yuan notes for markets, taxis, but use your credit/debit card for large purchases. Euros or dollars are rarely accepted outside of the hotels, even then the exchange rates will be very poor.

Cultural considerations

Use Two Hands: Offer and receive gifts, business cards, and money with both hands as a sign of respect.

Avoid Pointing: Use an open hand to gesture instead of pointing with a single finger, which can seem hostile.

Mind Your Volume: Loud talking or complaining in public is frowned upon.

Topics to avoid: Steer clear of politics and other sensitive subjects.

SIM Cards

Whilst the hotel has wi-fi you may also want to purchase a local sim card. We strongly advise that you use a vpn on your mobile and laptop whilst in China.

What will the weather be like

May is considered one of the best times to visit Beijing, with warm, pleasant, and sunny weather as spring transitions into summer. While it is generally warm, there is a significant temperature difference between day and night.

  • Average Daytime Highs: 26°C to 29°C (79°F to 84°F).
  • Average Nighttime Lows: 13°C to 15°C (55°F to 59

Packing

The dress code for the program (except for the Gala Dinner) is casual. We recommend that you bring comfortable shoes and light clothing — the climate will be warm, but also include a jumper or a lightweight jacket for the evenings.

The theme for the Gala Dinner, is ‘Dress to Impress’.

COVID 19

We do recommend that you self-monitor during the event, and should you feel unwell take a covid test. Whilst the wearing of face masks is not compulsory, if you have a cold or cough, please wear a mask to prevent spreading germs. If you have a preference to wear a mask during the event you may do so. it is also highly recommended that you regularly use hand sanitiser throughout the event.

Traveling with medication

You can bring medication into China to cover your stay in the country. For prescription medication it is recommended that you have a copy of your prescription with you at all times.
